This is a semi-skilled work in the maintenance of a water distribution system. Work involves performance of manual tasks in maintaining pumping equipment and water distribution lines. Work is completed under the direction of the Water Superintendent.
Work is performed in accordance with established routines, with employees making some field decisions where the decision follows established precedent. Major maintenance decisions are referred to a supervisor. Work requires knowledge that can be readily learned on the job. Work is reviewed in compliance with prescribed maintenance schedules and by direct observation by a supervisor. Work does involve some element of personal risk and unpleasant work conditions.
Position requires possession of a CDL Class B license with the ability to obtain a CDL Class A license within one year from hire. Position also requires the ability to obtain certification from the State of Vermont as an “Operator in Training” within 60 days of employment followed by certification as a Class 3 “Water System Operator” within 2 years.
