Exams
Water and wastewater operators in Vermont have several options for taking certification/licensing exams. These include:
Web-Based Testing
Currently only available for wastewater exams (domestic and industrial). The exam is administered on a laptop. Vermont Rural Water hosts these exams at locations across the state. See upcoming exam sessions below. Only 10 spots are available per session and registration closes two weeks before the exam date.
PSI Testing Center
PSI is a national testing service that offers water and wastewater exams at some of their testing centers. The test is administered on a computer. Some nearby PSI testing centers include South Burlington, VT; Keene, NH; Concord, NH; and Albany, NY. Find information on PSI exams here.
Online Live Proctoring
Currently only available for wastewater exams. This option allows you to take an exam from your home or work computer. Requirements include a web camera, speakers, microphone, and stable broadband internet connection Find Online Proctored exams here.
Paper Exams
Only available for water treatment and distribution exams. The Vermont Drinking Water and Groundwater Protection Division (DWGPD) offers paper exams twice per year, in May and November, located in Montpelier and Rutland. Find information here.
