Categorize your Credit Hours
for Water Treatment and Distribution Renewal
Training classes for water credit are now sorted into three categories based on the topic of the class. Water treatment and distribution operators need to fulfill a minimum number of credit hours in Category 1 and Category 2; Category 3 is optional.
To see the new requirements, and download worksheets to help you track your credit hours, visit vtruralwater.org/training/water-credit-categories/
Training Classes
Starting this month, Vermont Rural Water is listing categories on class registration pages and training certificates. For older classes, use this list to look up the category.
Renewals
For the 2026 renewal, Class 2 and 4 operators are encouraged to categorize their credit hours. You will not be penalized if you do not meet the minimum number of credit hours in each category for this renewal.
Class 3 and Distribution operators will be required to categorize their credit hours beginning with the 2028 renewal cycle. Class 2 and 4 operators will be required to categorize their credit hours beginning with the 2029 renewal cycle.
