Wastewater Mechanic/Operator — Shelburne

The Town of Shelburne, VT is looking for a Wastewater Mechanic/Operator.

The Shelburne Wastewater Department is responsible for the operations and maintenance of two wastewater facilities, 19 pump stations, and approximately 35 miles of sanitary sewer lines. The treatment facilities serve approximately 6000 residents. The wastewater facility also has an active septage receiving station and centrifugal dewatering.

The principal function for this position is the performance of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of equipment associated with an Advanced Tertiary Wastewater Treatment Facility, pump stations and collection system. The facilities are Sequencing Batch Reactors and include centrifugal Sludge Dewatering, Septage Receiving, collection system, and pump stations. The mechanic/operator works under the direct supervision of the Chief Operator. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation that includes overtime and weekend work. This is a union position.

The successful candidate must achieve a Grade I Wastewater Facility Operator’s license within 2 years and a Class B commercial driver’s license in one year. The candidate must also enjoy working independently and assisting the public with excellent follow-through and attention to detail.
