Filtration is sometimes required depending on the source water characteristics. The Surface Water Treatment Rule requires that all surface water be filtered and disinfected. In addition, contaminants such as radionuclides, iron and manganese require specific media and treatment processes. We will discuss a variety of medias and filtration processes that can be used for surface water treatment or contaminant removal.
