Corrosion Control and Polymers (Jan 25)

The first part of this class will focus on distribution system corrosion and methods to combat it. Topics covered include: what is corrosion and what causes it, why some waters are more corrosive than others, problems corrosion causes, lead/copper rules, and using phosphates and pH adjustment to combat corrosion.

In the second part, we will look at polymer use for solids separations, including: what is polymer and how does it work, storage and handling, mixing and using polymer, how to make adjustments, and spill clean-up.
