The wastewater treatment plant operator works to assure that the plant operates within required standards. Operating in an environmentally responsible manner is fundamental to how we conduct business. Essential job responsibilities include performing routine laboratory analysis of wastewater samples for process control and compliance. Recording all data relevant to the operation. Making changes in the mechanical, physical and/or chemical processes of the treatment system to maintain optimum system operation. Operating solids handling equipment to provide timely and efficient disposal of wasted sludge. Must be willing to work a schedule which includes working every other weekend as well as holidays. Additional job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Individuals with a Grade II or higher wastewater treatment plant operator’s license.

Ability to perform arithmetic and input data into a computer.

Reliable attendance with sound work performance.

Strong communication skills including the ability to actively listen and understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

Strong interpersonal relationship skills and a professional attitude.

Must be able to use common hand and power tools, a calculator, and a variety of lab equipment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to perform occasional strenuous activity in all weather conditions.

Must be willing to carry a cell phone to receive and respond to callbacks.

Must be willing to obtain a Grade IV Pollution Abatement Facility Operators License for Industrial Paper within 4 years.
