OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE:
The Operator performs the routine daily tasks concerning the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant(s), pumping stations, compost facility, and the Pre-Treatment Facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- When assigned, may supervise a small crew or other operators or employees.
- Actively participates in performing functions such as screening, grit removal, filtration, sedimentation, disinfection, sludge processing, pumping, composting and PTF/wastewater collection.
- Performs custodial duties, mowing, snow removal, and general work on divisional grounds and buildings.
- Operates divisional motor vehicle equipment and Vacuum Truck.
- Collects samples of wastewater for analysis.
- Performs required testing and form reporting.
- Constantly monitors all equipment for proper function, repairs, and maintains accordingly.
- Assists Chief Operator and Assistant Chief Operator in training of new employees.
- Works with the Highway/Wastewater Collection Foreman.
