A second round of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for wastewater pretreatment is available. Proposals are due by July 21, 2023.
Eligible projects include:
- Create and conduct a survey of industrial users,
- Develop local pollution limits for industries and businesses,
- Improve a sewer use ordinance, or
- Partner with a private entity in Vermont to improve the private entity’s wastewater pretreatment facilities.
Municipalities of any size may apply for funding. A private entity—such as a business, non-profit organization, or other industrial wastewater producer—must partner with their local municipality to be eligible.
Funding may be distributed by the municipality to industrial users to implement, improve or expand pretreatment systems. Funding may not be used by a municipality to upgrade its wastewater treatment facility.
“We received applications for a wide variety of projects in the first round of ARPA funding,” said DEC Environmental Analyst Ashley Hellman. “This funding provides an exciting opportunity for many different types of private entities, including breweries, metal finishers, and dairies.”
