Service Line Inventories Due Next Week!
Just one week until Service Line Inventories are due! Every community water system (CWS) and non-transient non-community (NTNC) water system must submit a Service Line Inventory (and a Lead Service Line Replacement Plan, if required) by October 16, 2024.
In addition, water systems with service lines made of lead, galvanized requiring replacement, and/or unknown material are required to send out notice to their users within 30 days of completing the inventory. Systems are also required to provide users with public notice within 24 hours of a lead action level exceedance, effective for samples collected after 10/16/2024.

Lead and Copper Rule Improvements Announced
Yesterday, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the finalized Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI). This does not change the Service Line Inventory requirements stated above, but it will add some additional requirements and funding in the coming years. Read about the LCRI here.
The Vermont Drinking Water and Groundwater Protection Division (DWGPD) is going through the new LCRI to determine the state’s approach. They will be providing more information and holding trainings once it is ready.
