The Town of Barre is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Water Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with overseeing the daily operations of the water distribution system and the collection/pumping of domestic and commercial wastes. They will also be involved in installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems related to water and wastewater facilities.
Minimum qualifications are high school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license; additional technical training or certification in water/wastewater operations preferred. Previous experience in water/wastewater operations or a related field is desirable.
Usual hours are M-F, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Overtime is required, including nighttime, weekend and holiday work, depending on weather, and emergencies. The starting hourly rate is $31.55 per hour. A higher starting wage is possible depending on the amount of related experience.
