This NEW course provides a comprehensive review of biological odor production in wastewater treatment plants and sewer systems as well as operational measures for odor prevention and control. The course will overview the forms of cBOD degradation that produce odors, the bacteria responsible for odor production, and the analytical tests that are available to monitor odor production and control. We will examine biological, chemical, and physical operational measures for preventing and controlling odor production, such as include aeration, bioaugmentation, biofilters, disinfectants, nitrate addition, oxidizing agents, pH adjustment, and sulfide precipitation.
