Planning for emergencies is of the utmost importance to water and wastewater utilities in the year 2020. Traditional vulnerability assessments and older emergency response plans may not suffice for the extreme climate events we are now experiencing. Creating and updating an Emergency Response Plan needs to be a priority for all water and wastewater systems.

In this training session, we will discuss how to perform a good Vulnerability Assessment and how to create a useful Emergency Response Plan. This includes staffing challenges during an emergency, communications with customers and emergency response personnel, and finding funding for emergency response.
