This seminar is intended to prepare attendees for taking the Vermont industrial dairy wastewater exam. A major aspect of the training is to provide entry-level industrial operators with background relating to wastewater treatment. We will discuss the differences between domestic wastewater and industrial dairy wastewater as they relate to treatment at municipal facilities and why pretreatment or land application are sometimes the best alternative to protect the downstream wastewater facility. We will also discuss basics such as pH, BOD, pumps, lagoons, dairy impacts on Activated Sludge and RBCs, and pretreatment techniques.
