The Village of Poultney, Vermont is accepting applications for one (1) full-time position for an Assistant Public Works Technician. This position works under the direct supervision of the superintendent of public works.
The primary responsibility of the candidate will be to participate in the Vermont Rural Water Association’s Apprenticeship Program while learning the daily operation of water and wastewater systems under the direction of the Village’s certified operator.
REQUIRMENTS:
Minimum must possess a high school diploma. Higher education classes and/or degree in environmental field preferred.
LICENSE:
Valid Class 2 DM Wastewater operator license, or ability to obtain
Valid Class 3 Water operator certification, or ability to obtain.
The candidate will receive provisional (temporary) licenses until they pass the certification exams and complete the required work experience. The candidate will be fully supported in their effort to obtain their certifications through Vermont Rural Water’s Apprenticeship Program and on-the-job training from the Village of Poultney.
OTHER DUTIES:
The Village of Poultney has a small staff. The candidate will perform additional Public Works functions such as plowing streets, repairing potholes, street cleaning, and maintaining storm drains.
