SUMMARY:Developing and Updating Your Source Protection Plan (with optional work session)
DESCRIPTION:Class Description \nJoin staff from the Vermont Drinking Water and Groundwater Protection Division (DWGPD) and the Vermont Rural Water Association to learn about new tools in the world of source water protection planning. This training will focus on the key components of a source protection plan. There will be an interactive demonstration of the template and guidance document\, as well as a review of the new ANR Online Source Protection Plan Submission Form. These tools can streamline the process of creating and updating a water system’s source protection plan and help water systems stay in compliance with State of Vermont regulations. \nThe class itself will be 9 am to 12:30 pm. Starting at 1 pm there will be an optional work session that does not provide credit hours. \nClass Credit\n3 TCH (Water) \nOptional Work Session \nStay after class and work on your water system’s Source Protection Plan.
Attendees will be introduced to DWGPD’s new online tools\, including a template and guidance document that you can use to develop your water system’s source protection plan (SPP) and/or source protection plan update (SPPU). Brad and Laura will be available to provide technical assistance and answer questions. No TCHs will be provided for the work session. \nAttendees are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop\, power cord\, their current Source Protection Plan\, and any pertinent water system documents. Power and Wi-Fi will be available. Links to various databases and resources will be provided for use during the work session. \nA second work session will be held Thursday\, March 28 from 9 am to 4 pm. Register at https://vtruralwater.org/trainings/spp-work-session-3-28/ \nLocation \nThe class and work session are in Catamount Conference Room (D215) on the second floor of the Davis Building in the National Life Complex. \nAttendees will be required to sign in at the Davis Building security desk upon initial entry to the building. All visitors will receive a day pass. Parking is free. \nThe National Life cafeteria will be open for lunch. Individuals are welcome to bring their own snacks\, lunch\, and drinks. There is a refrigerator and microwave available. \nInstructors\nLaura Ranker (VT Drinking Water and Groundwater Protection Division)\nBrad Roy (Vermont Rural Water Association) \nProctor\nTim Russo (Vermont Rural Water Association)

SUMMARY:OSHA: Environmental Awareness and Workplace Violence
DESCRIPTION:Description\nWorkplace violence is any act or threat of physical violence that occurs at the work site. It ranges from harassment and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide. There is a potential for workplace violence at treatment plants and when water and wastewater workers are in the field. For example\, shutting off customers’ water has provoked gun violence against workers. \nIn the world we live in\, environmental awareness is a must. This class will teach how to be more aware of potential threats. We will discuss administrative steps you can take to protect employees such as having a workplace shooter plan and written safety procedures for field work. Training your team to be more aware of the environment may save their lives. \nCredit\n3 TCH (Water & Wastewater) \nInstructor\nPaula Jackson (Vermont Rural Water Association)
