SUMMARY:Corrosion Control and Polymers
DESCRIPTION:Description\nThe first part of this class will focus on distribution system corrosion and methods to combat it. Topics covered include: what is corrosion and what causes it\, why some waters are more corrosive than others\, problems corrosion causes\, lead/copper rules\, and using phosphates and pH adjustment to combat corrosion. \nIn the second part\, we will look at polymer use for solids separations\, including: what is polymer and how does it work\, storage and handling\, mixing and using polymer\, how to make adjustments\, and spill clean-up. \nCredit\n3 TCH (Water & Wastewater) \nWebinar\nThe Zoom link will be emailed to you the day before class. Please join the Zoom meeting at least 10 minutes before class starts. Click here for more information about Zoom trainings. \nProctor\nTim Russo (Vermont Rural Water Association) \nInstructor\nRyan Peebles (Clean Waters Inc)

SUMMARY:Basic Math for Water and Wastewater Operators
DESCRIPTION:Description\nThis course covers basic math concepts that operators use frequently in their work and are most likely to appear on water and wastewater certification exams. These include conversions\, perimeter\, area\, volume\, PSI\, elevation head\, and detention time. If time permits\, we will also cover flow and chemical dosage. \nAttendees should bring their own calculator. If you are preparing to take a water or wastewater certification exam\, know that only non-programmable calculators will be allowed during the exam. Graphing calculators and smartphones will not be allowed. \nCredit\n4 TCH (Water & Wastewater) \nInstructor\nPaula Jackson (Vermont Rural Water Association)
